Course Information

This course provides a theoretical analysis of race, racism and the implications for anti-racist education. In addition to exploring the key features of anti-racism education, the course also addresses other axes of oppression, namely, class and gender, with a critical focus on racialized power and privilege, and how such features function in the broader U.S context as well as the schooling environment. Of equal importance is a critical interrogation of the historical, ideological, and political processes that produce and maintain racism. Course participants explore pedagogies, curriculum, and school leadership strategies as mechanisms for instituting anti-racism work in schools and community. Prereq: Graduate Status.
