Course Information
This course will study the development of our language beginning with its Indo-European origins and moving through Old and Middle English to modern varieties of English. We will focus on exploring the mechanisms which produce language change and variety, the social contexts which are associated with historical change in English, and the most salient characteristics of English at different stages in its historical development. Elective for the TESL Certificate and M.A. in English.
